I launched the Party Playlist iPhone app a while back and I was really impressed to see how successful it was and how many people downloaded it and enjoyed the party tips and playlists that it offered.
So for the fourth of July weekend, I decided to make the app free! You can now download it on the iTunes store for $0!!

A New Halloween Party Playlist 2011

This is the second Halloween party playlist I’m posting, which means my site has been up for more than a year now! Very exciting!!
For this Halloween party playlist, I decided to change things and instead of reposting oldies like “the monster mash” and other “regular” Halloween songs, I will do something different.
The party playlist below is all about the Monsters and Witches.
This party playlist is almost 42 minutes long and is pretty upbeat, averaging out at 151 bpm, so it will get your party dancing wildly very soon. Watch out for the 198(!) bpm song I hid somewhere in the playlist, it will definitely give your guests a good scare and get your heart pumping.

What’s New on iTunes: Party Playlist 2011 07-13

This week’s iTunes top 10 doesn’t’ have too many surprises, and the new songs may or may not be useful for a party playlist, depending on your music preferences. Another country song made it into the list Dirt Road Anthem this week and while I do like country music, I’m not really sure what the artist was going for with this one (is it rap that he’s trying to do?) this one just doesn’t work.
There are a couple of slower new songs,Skyscraper and Good Life, that are pretty good.
Obviously, this list won’t last you for an entire party, but it will give you a good start and will give you some ideas where to go next.

An Independence Day Party Playlist for the 4th of July

It’s Independence Day weekend here in the US and what better than a party playlist full of patriotic and inspiring songs to get you in the holiday spirit?
This week’s party playlist is full of music that is all about freedom, independence and even fireworks!
I made sure these are all songs with a BPM of over 120, so they can actually get your partiers energized and keep everything upbeat and fun and also included some diversity, even though country is more dominant in this playlist than it usually is in other playlists I post.
So have a beer and a burger and watch some fireworks to celebrate the birth of the USA and I’ll see you next week!

Another week has passed and once again it’s time for another party playlist review of what’s new in the top 10 songs on iTunes.
Country music is a great genre, so I’m always glad when a country song enters the top 10 on iTunes. Even though this song is a bit low on the BPM side, it’s still nice to have a change in pace from the pop and hip-hop that’s usually in the top 10 (nothing wrong with pop or hip-hop, I just like some diversity every now and then…)

It’s Finally Here! The Party Playlist iPhone App!

I’ve been working on this for a few months now and I can finally say that it’s ready to go! Party Playlist has gone mobile and we now have an iPhone app in the apple app store.

This app offers a lot of different options:
First, It takes the music from this website into the mobile world and allows you to cut out the PC as the middleman. Now you can access the party playlists from this site directly on your phone and download any music from them to your music library while on the go.
Second, If you’ve ever wanted to plan a party, and needed some tips to help you get started – this app is for you because it has a whole section on party planning tips and ideas.
But wait, there’s more…
Third, no party is complete without some tasty beverages (ok, maybe if it’s a kids’ party you can pass on the alcohol, but most adult parties are just more fun with some good drinks). The new party playlist app also includes drink recipes to teach you how to make these yummy beverages and not only that, they also include videos showing you how to make them step by step!

OMG! It’s a Glee Party Playlist!!

Here’s a party playlist surprise!
The TV show Glee has taken the music world by storm, and if you haven’t heard of it, it means you either live under a rock or have just now woken up from a coma – and if that’s the case, thanks for making this site the first one you visit 
.
Glee is in a category of its own – already breaking the Beatles’ record for the most hits on the top of the charts (even though these are only cover versions), and finding a way to take over the iTunes top 10 list pretty much every week the day after the show.
I hate to admit it (since I’m not a 12 year old girl), but I do enjoy the show. The story is usually very loose, barely makes sense at times, but sometimes that’s just what you need from a TV show, and it does work to tie the songs together. It doesn’t hurt that their music is very up-beat and well performed either.
That’s why I decided to create a party playlist entirely out of Glee songs. This party playlist is 45 minutes long, so obviously, it won’t last you for an entire party, but it will give you a good start and will give you some ideas where to go next.

How to Find Free and Legal Music downloads for Your Party Playlist

What if I told you that you can get hundreds of free songs (in mp3 format) for free and completely legal? oh, and there isn’t any one of those pesky monthly fees attached to it either… And I’m not just talking about streaming from an online player on the web, I’m talking about actually downloading these songs as your “property” for free.
The songs I’m talking about are not some backwoods bands that no one’s ever heard of either, I’m talking famous artists like John Legend, Beyoncé, Death Cab For Cutie, Alice Cooper and many others (there are also less familiar artists and bands there of course…)
Last time I checked, I counted over 1500 free songs available for immediate download.
How to find these free songs:
Amazon.com:
Amazon is probably the best source for free music. They have been doing a great job promoting their music download service and is actually subsidizing a lot of music to try and beat iTunes.
To get free music from amazon go to http://amzn.to/d03NlI and just go up and down the list and get as many songs as you want.
Mp3.com
Mp3.com has a big collection of artists, although most of them are non-mainstream. They share a number of free songs at http://www.mp3.com/free-music/free-mp3s
You won’t find songs from artists like Beyoncé there, but there are plenty of other songs that are definitely worth listening to. Oh, did I mention they are free?
Last.fm
Last.fm is another great place to get more free music.

What’s New on iTunes: Party Playlist 2011 06-02

This week’s iTunes top 10 is still a good source for music for your party playlist.
I was surprised to see that Scotty’s song from American Idol is still on the top 10 list, but it is. I think it’s not his best, but it looks like he’s going to have a long and successful career (if he doesn’t screw up), so good for him!
This week’s list is pretty similar to last weeks, so it looks like there are no real new hits on the radio to move things around yet.
